How costly would it be to use mass transit from Central NJ to NYC??

It depends on what you consider "Central NJ". I know from Aberdeen/Matawan (central on the Shore) it's about $12/one way

I also remember Metuchen (central towards the middle of the state) was about $9/one way

It all depends. Are you planning to take a bus into the Port Authority? Or will you be taking a train into Hoboken and then taking the PATH into NYC?
