no, the Leeds and Liverpool canal is a narrow canal so you'd need a narrowboat and not a barge.

A 62ft narrowboat would get there though.

By the way, you cruise narrowboats, not sail them.

trip planning can be made using http://www2.mihalis.net/canal/cgi-bin/index.cgi

This is a great tool that gives all the marinas, times and miles and provided a great itinerary if your trip is time-conscious.

winter stoppages would halt your progress at the moment.

It says:
Total distance is 284 miles, ¼ flg and 281 locks. There are at least 7 moveable bridges; 26 small aqueducts or underbridges and 10 tunnels.

Made up of 150 miles, 7 furlongs of narrow canals; 97 miles, 5¾ furlongs of broad canals; 17 miles, 3 furlongs of commercial waterways; 12 miles, 7 furlongs of small rivers; 0 miles, ¾ furlongs of large rivers; 5 miles, 1 furlong of tidal rivers; 143 narrow locks; 126 broad locks; 11 large locks.

This will take 160 hours, 7 minutes which is 17 days, 7 hours and 7 minutes at 9 hours per day.

ok - look the length isn't the problem it's the width. If it's a "narrow" boat i.e.will fit into lock on a narrow canal then you can connect all way from Yorkshire to the Thames.
British Waterways have online maps showing all the canals and their widths or try easyweb.easynet.co.uk/jim.shead/Inland waterways of England.html

It's probably possible with a boat of that size, definitely with a smaller one. I'd use an engine and not rely on sailing if I were you though!
