I haven't any idea of what may be causing your knee problem but you most definately should have it looked at by the doctor. He will probably have an x-ray done and it may reveal a small tear or something and he may advice you to either give it rest or ice or may even have you see a specialist. Regardless, you are young and the long term impacts of not getting it looked at may prove to be a big mistake later on in your life. Hopefully you will only need to give it some rest and relaxation then you can get back into the groove of being a sports person again. Best of luck.

I am an active athlete, too && had the same problem.
I had a big tourney coming up, but in the middle of a game I could barely run.
I went to a sports doc and they decided to give me a MRI. It turned out I had partialy tore my ACL tendon... if I would have waited it would have tore completely threw and I would've had to have surgery and be out for SIX MONTHS! opposed to the surgery-less 3 weeks I was out.
You might not have this specific problem... but the pain will just get worse and when you do finally go to the doc you will be out longer if you wait later.
I'm sorry, but if sports mean ANYTHING to you GO NOW!!!
(If you MUST play before your appointment is scheduled by a knee brace -they help alot-)

If you are in high school, why didn't you tell your coach. They have trainers that can evaluate if you should be playing or not. Second or first, tell your parents. Without realizing it, you could be causing permanent damage to your knee. Get yourself to a doctor and let him evaluate you and perhaps request an MRI (doesn't hurt). If you want to continue to play sports into your adulthood, you need to take care of yourself or you may be permanently benched.

You need to go to the doctor. You don't want to keep wearing down your knee or anything and have to have surgery on it later. If you go as soon as possible, they may just be able to give a brace/physical therapy, etc. Don't wait. Knees cause peope a lot of problems later in their lives.

if your injury is causing you this much trouble it would only make the best of sense to have your doctor look at it,playing more sports on an injured knee could do only more damage, perhaps enough damage that you will not be playing anymore ball forever.

You should definitely go to the doctor.
But till the time you are not able to go-
you should put ice packs on the knee and
apply some topical anaelgesic cream

you should go to the doctor, no point in damaging yourself for the rest of your life just for a short term result
