Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is not comparable to any OTC drug, because it is one of the most potent schedule II narcotics available via Rx only. It can be compared to other Rx-only opioid agonists, however, such as morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, oxymorphone and methadone. Hope that helps.

Dilaudid is a controlled drug by the FDA. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain. There is nothing that you can use to relieve the pain unless you go to the emergency room for perhaps an injection. Take someone to the hospital with you to drive The drug will be strong enough to relieve your pain. You will not be able to get anything comparable to the narcotic over the counter. You may want to try Aleve capsules,or some Excedrin Migraine or ExcedrinTension Reliever. I would not try to take anything with alot of tylenol in it,. and don't take more than you are told to take, you might become addicted to the narcotic or begin to feel worse than you did before because the more often you take something the least better you will feel. So follow the directions of your doctor.

There is only one way you can get codeine legally without a prescription, and that is to buy it in Canada. In BC you can buy Tylenol 1's legally over the counter, and you are legally allowed to bring a set amount over the border into the USA.
