Pull away from external distractions, and go inside yourself.

Turn off TV, cell phones and home phones and any other possible distraction. Find a quiet room, sit or lay in a comfortable place, close your eyes, and think, pray, meditate on positive things. Deep breathing helps during meditation. Some people do well with mood music, and aromatherapy as well.

You can do this on a smaller scale at a lunch break at work, or even riding the bus. It's all in you!.

Perhaps start by running a hot bath, light some candles, turn off the lights and relax - when you start thinking about something force yourself to let your mind go blank (thats why saying 'um' is useful). Thats an easy way to start meditating and clearing your mind.

Seek a quietude time and place, withdraw from the maddening crowd, develop spiritual concentration, sometimes incense burning could help. read spiritual related books.
be that as it may, it is not spiritually advisable to over-indulge in meditation as your it is harmful if your soul eventually leaves your body and contacted some foreign souls before returning to your body. the advise here is to meditate moderately

MAybe put on your headphones and listen to relaxing music or take a hot bath and put on relaxing music and turn out the lights and get a bunch of candles and put bubbles in I find this very cool and relaxing. Maybe go on a walk. Or just sit and close your eyes and think or a happy quiet place.

focusing on breathing, or anythign else for that matter...focusing on doing the dishes... not a distraction... some type of work.. can be meditating... focusing on doing it only it....

meditating is the time u spend inside your head while you are still connecting yourself to the physical world... hence the breathign or the doing work thing while you meditate...

at least that is what its like for me..
