8...Bernie Williams, while very well liked by NY and myself, is over the hill and filling a spot better used by someone else.

Randy J. is over the hill too.

A Rod will come back and be the MVP caliber player he really is.

The Yankees HAVE to get younger soon or face total colapse...Cashman is headed in the right direction.

I'll give him an 8-9 if the Yanks get Clemens. The Yankees were getting old,but thanks to Cashman now they got younger prospects for the future. He is going in the right direction. I mean you just can't be looking in the present time too much because if you do, the players will get old and you won't have a lot of young prospect when the old players are ready to retire. So I like what Cashman is doing right now.

I'd say 7 or 8. Cashman unloaded a lot of big salaries. The Yanks are gonna win games with that team just because of who the players are. The story will be told in what he does with the cash he frees up. Remember, the Yankees can reload at will. It's hard to screw up that job with those bucks behind you.

8 - will be 10 if he signs Clemens and Bernie back.
He did a real good job in getting rid of the clubhouse cancer in sheffield and getting three good major league ready prospects. He signed back Andy Pettitte who was one of the Yankees better starters in the 90's dynasty. Traded the old Johnson for a pretty decent reliever and a pitching prospect scouts think was a steal. He stregthened the team defensively getting Doug Mientkiewicz which will help Alex out. I think Igawa could be a very good 5th starter, being lefty works out for him in Yankee stadium. The only thing that i would be ashamed of is if they don't resign Bernie. Everyone in New York wants him and he still has the ability to be a contributor.

6.

I liked the sheffield move, but the RJ thing makes no sense. The Yankees are now missing about 200 innings. They do not have adequate SPing.

Even if he signs Clemens, he's short about 100 innings. That is going to be replaced with a mediocre SP or more piled up innings on the bullpen. He did not address the main problem the yankees have, Major League SP. The arguement that moving RJ is a cost saving move is BS. When was the last time the yankees cared about thier budget?

of course, you have to wait for the offseason to end before you can really judge a move.

9, He has done a good job of unloading their over paid talent and trading them for young prospects. Even though I hate the Yankees I have to say he is building for their future. Just getting rid of Johnson and Sheffield should have earned him an 8.

It's really not the moves that he has done its the moves he hasn't done.
I was real happy trading Sheffield, Wright and Johnson because we picked up a lot of young talent that will enable us to make moves in the future. Plus there may be a starer or two in the group.
I was ecstatic about not getting into bidding wars for Lilly, Meche and Zito. They were all overrated and I couldn't see them fitting in too well.
He's not done though. I feel like there's a move to be made before Spring Training.
