I have seen so many Anti-American questions posted on this site! People are grossly generalizing Americans as fat, stupid, lazy, murderous cowards, and I see a lot of people write back "explanations" answering these people. We have nothing to explain! Don't give these people the satisfaction of hearing Americans say "We aren't ALL like that" No American's are what they are stereotyped as. If they hate America so much, why are they sitting at their Gateway computer (that runs Windows), talking to American's on an American run website? It is ridiculous. They are just showing their ignorance and lack of education. It is no different than high school girls spreading rumors that the pretty girl is a stupid slut. There is no truth to their statements. It just makes them feel powerful to say what they say. In reality they are jelous of your money, your power, your opportunities, and your country. Be proud, and don't even respond.

By "benifit of the doubt" I mean the feeling that posters obviously have the person writing in just "doesn't understand...or just needs an explanation". In reality, they are not asking a question, they are making a statement that doesn't warrent and explanation. Furthermore, it is one thing to disagree with a government, and another to hate a nationality. If you disagree with Bush, than so be it. Many, many American's disagree as well. That is why the GOP lost control of the Senate a few days ago. You have no reason to hate the American people though. Other than unfounded beliefs and jelousy. By the way, Yahoo is an American company. So I don't care if you are on Canadian Yahoo, Argentia Yahoo, or Spain Yahoo.....you are still using an American company.

The Jews aren't popular either.

Jews are greedy. Americans are fat.

They learn this negativity in their culture. And it's been going on a lot longer than GW Bush and the Iraq war.

Just rise above it. It says much more about them than it does us.

You seem to have one heck of a chip on your shoulder.

I am British and we take a lot of stick as well...as do the French and the Germans and practically every religion going....

It is actually a fact that a great deal of Americans are fat, or do you walk around with your eyes closed. I visited friends in Kansas a few years ago and was utterly amazed by the size of some people...note that I said "some" not "all" so I am not generalizing.

It is also a fact that there are a great deal of murders in America...especially in schools, or so it seems to the rest of the world. As to being stupid and lazy...well I can't comment on the lazy bit, but some of the questions and answers from "some" Americans on this site absolutely beggar belief, so that would show that it is they who are showing their ignorance and lack of education, not others.

Having said that, there is good and bad in every country...that is a fact of life that nobody can escape.

When I stop reading questions from America like 'Where are Dutch people from?', 'Where is Wales?' and answers such as the one I just read saying 'don't go to Russia. They are uncivilised barbarians', then I will stop thinking Americans are ignorant. I'm well aware not all (or even most) Americans are like this, but I'm sorry the vast majority of the ones on Yahoo answers are complete wankers.

Your argument that you make stuff is bollocks as well. Germany makes nice cars. Russia makes good vodka. Does that mean you loved Hitler and Stalin?? Hey, Iraq makes good oil but there wasn't a whole lot of goodwill towards Sadam. If the pretty girl in high school is a stupid *****, then damn right, I'll call her that.

Did you ever stop and think that is that many people dislike you that maybe there is some truth to it? What you see in the US and how the rest of the world is effected but the action of you country are too very different things. What amazes me is this cult like attitude that some Americans have to defend there nation beyond all logic. There is no discussion, no reasoning, just we are the best and you are all jealous. I can tell you that I would rather live in Canada then the US anyday. And I am on Yahoo Canada Answers right now.

And I don't think you understand the term "benefit of the doubt"

Wow, getting a little excited aren't we. So should I can if this sight is owned by an American company? My coffee mug is from Thailand, can I still us it. I hope your not using all that Canadian and Arabian gas in your car.

In most cases, I treat questions as requests for information. I am always amused, though, by questions that start with "why" and then move on to an absurd assumption. For example, "Why do Americans hate the French?" This is not a question, it is an attempt to express an unfounded and unsupported assumption. I generally suggest to the asker that he or she first conduct enough research to determine whether the assumption is true and then begin to consider causation. It doesn't change them, but it amuses me.

Wow, you are very correct. But I would not follow your solution.

You see, I was living in a country where anti-americanism wass very popular. The people there had those anti-american feelings, and anything that came from US was considered a proof to support their attitude.

What those people need is a clear picture of what America is really like, and maybe that way they'll realize that their attitude is very silly, and has no facts to back it up.

No need to get into a huff. This is what freedom of expression is all about. This is what makes america great. People may slag off americans but they secretly admire them.

This website is Chinese and computers here in Europe are not Gateways or any American model.

I know there are plenty of Americans that are reasonable people but your government has hurt a lot of people and as a democracy you are responsible for that. The Americans that come on here and apologize give the rest of us hope. And I have been to the States and have relatives there and the stereotypes exist for a reason.

Plus I find America to be a very poor country compared to Canada and Europe. Sure there are lots of millionaires but everyone else seems poor.
