Sometimes people will tense their shoulders and kind of sink their head down in a prolonged shrug. I've realize tthis usually happens if the person is getting complimented or receiving attention (positive or negative).

Can anyone explain what this behavior means though? Does anybody know why people do this?

Also, is it a particular behavior people frown upon or embrace?

To me, those are the people that aren't as comfortable when they receive attention. They are modest and that's their reaction when faced with the limelight ---- whether it's positive or negative.

I embrace this type of behavior because I prefer modest --- non-attention seeking types.

Its usually a behaviour of shying away, ie. if complimented the person probably feels slightly embarassed. If negative attention it would be considered as a sulk.
