Yes, a person can change in one night, but after only one night the change will be short lived. Once the motivating factor for the change is no longer viewed as threat, the person who "changed" will miraculously recover and go back to their old ways. In the world of psychology this is called "spontaneous recovery".

Yes and no........ you can make choices that this is it. But sticking to them can be the problem. AND I like you for last few nights going through ideas, wanting to change......I am mad that I allowed myself to get lowered a few years back, and I really need to let that person go SO I CAN change.......Each day the enemy will try to tear you down so you struggle to change. Take one day at a time, for me I plan to go back to work and stay out of certain conversations, only be positive, don't tell my personal negative problems to co workers, put on a fake smile if I have to.....watch my butt at all times. And at home make a list of areas that need cleaned up in my life. Take one day at a time....... but the killer for me is going to try to figure how to let a man go that's been in my life since March of 02......That will be a big change for me and I never broke up with anyone serious and I am 45.

I don't think someones core personality can change but a person can certainly decide to go about life in a different way if they have the right motivation.

Not without motivation. Generally speaking, when the pain of doing something exceeds the pain of stopping then change takes place.

Short term, a real change takes longer. Let's say two months of effort.

my belief is that changes happen over time, they need to be worked on and practised, they don't happen in one night. Unless something traumatic has occurred, that is life changing.
