Others happiness shouldn't be more important than you're own happiness, they should be equally important. Don't ever let anyone tell you that their well being is more important than yours. There's a difference by being happy and trying to pass on that state of being to people who aren't as happy with THEIR lives. :)

Sometimes making other people happy, after such a time of hell and depression, makes me feel like I can smile and be happy too. I know how to find my own happiness and I live it everyday. When I encounter a person in need of a little inspiration and I can do whatever I do to make them smile, then I know happiness has been spread around. Everyone deserves to be happy. Why be selfish and keep happiness all to yourself? Make it contagious and help others at least begin to dream about their goals.

I don't know that the happiness of others is "more important" than my own. Rather, the the happiness of others brings me happiness.

It's hard to find excitement and then have no one to share it with. We are a species who enjoy being with others. We party, we write notes for others to read. To bring others happiness or to share our happiness with others is one of the essential elements of life.

I think sometimes (many times) it's easier to solve other people's problems than it is to solve your own. There's a certain satifaction to come from helping someone. You certainly feel good about it. So really, someone else's happiness isn't more important than your own, but it's key.

Don't you do things to make your wife, girlfriend and/or children happy? Don't you feel really good to see them smile? Don't you think, in turn, they want to make you happy? What an incredible chain reaction that would be if that extended beyond your circle of loved ones.

The greatest happiness you may ever pursue in your life is by :
1. The state of your soul.
2. The way that you treat people.
3. The pure love that you have in your heart.

if you treat people and make them happy you will become happy naturally.....

I know it sounds so corny but that's the truth....

Personally, my happiness comes from the happiness of those around me. If someone makes a fool of him/herself, I would feel ashamed (I hate that part...). I can make myself happy, though it is harder to see yourself from the view of a third party. If you view someone and try to make them happy, it's easier than them trying to make themselves happy and you also get happier. They, in turn, will usually be grateful to you, and you shall have your own happiness through them.

i.e. ( 1 / 2 ) x Effort = 2 x Happiness.

Mister Kaplan, I am going to be honest with you!
It depends greatly about who the others are...
And I don't mean only friends as sometime friends can become enemies...
It depends of circumstances and moods too.

That's a myth put out there by people who get their happiness from making others happy.
Quoting the bible (I'm not a Christian) ... "They have already had their reward"
