How can I stop my IM account from opening up at another computer that I no longer have access to?

Change your password, then it won't be able to auto-log you in. The IM client will still launch but it won't be able to log in anymore.

You can't stop the software from launching if you dont' have access to the computer, so change your password. That will at least keep it from connecting.

if you have it set to remember password or id than you will need to get that changed on that pc, if you didnt than it shouldnt be loggin you in at all on there
