yes, All Quiet on the Western Front is about World War I, and as it was written by a German veteran, it does focus on the conflict on Germany's Western front (their fight against France). There are a number of themes in the book, but when I read it, I took the author's purpose to be conveying realistically the "horror of war" and it's affects on the many men (on both sides) who took part in the conflict. (there's one part where he's in a crater with a French soldier who is dying that conveys this quite clearly). There is no significant event that the book focuses on...just the life of a German solider on the front. Nevertheless, it is a great book...I read it in high school and enjoyed it. If you still need some help this site has a very shallow review, but it can help you if you have any trouble.

good luck.

I can't help you on the subject, but i can give you some advise. It is better getting your homework out of the way first, instead of leaving it to the last minute and believe me, it's terrible when you have to write an assignment on a book or film what you haven't read or watched. Watch the film yourself so you can develop your own interpretation of the events expressed and your own views and opinions on the matters... Good Luck! :)
