Probably not if they are both standard usb cables. A good way to find out is READ your modem instruction book.

If the connections at the end are the same, they will work fine. A printer cable is usually what's known as an A-B cable - it has a large rectangular connector on one end and a slightly smaller, square connector on the other end. Both are "male".
