you should check everything fom the sensors, cables and fuses. if those are good then you might need a new gauge

The speedometer cable may be loose or damaged,trace the cable going to the back of the speedometer from the transmission. The speedometer is strictly mechanical and is not controlled by any eletronic device.

hey....i had the same problem on my 94 but i think its a wire problem....on the 94 there are no actual cable wire that spins the speedometer, its electronic. so my guess is that the 1990 version is the same, which means that there has to be a bad sensor or wire.

I'm guessing it came outta the tranny just look where it come outta the firewall and jam it back in if that doesn't work take off the dash cover like 4 bolts and see if it came loose from the back of the cluster.

check the cable that goes to your transmission or you could need a new gauge
