I guess I made some borderline sexist comments to a girl at my college. She warned me I'd regret it if I kept it up. She managed to get something very incriminating on me and has told me that she wants me to buy a dress in order to get back in her good graces. I've thought it over and reluctantly I've agreed. The problem is I have no clue on my size and her response is "Go try it on". That's not going to happen. I'm 5'9" and I weigh 160 pounds. I have a 36 inch chest and a 30 inch waist. Any idea what dress size that makes me?

I'm not an expert in this area but my best guess would be size 12. I really depends on the make of the dress. You could possibly squeeze into a size 10 or a 14. But my bet is 12. Good luck. Don't forget the shoes to match. :)

your weight is not really that important in making this choice. Your measurements are the only thing you need. And you may not wear the same size as another person with the same 5'9" & 160 pound.

I once was fitted for a bridesmaid dress with two other friends and we all technically were 5'4" and weight 154 pounds, yet we worse sizes ranging from 10 - 16. Your dress or clothing size is dependent on your measurements. According to websites like jcrew and gap, your chest is a size 8 - 10 and your waist is a 10 or 12. Your waist is between sizes.

You need to fit the largest measurement on your body. So I would say probably go with 10 or 12.

I'd guess, roughly an 8 or 10.

Um...good luck?
