Saddam Hussein was a horrible monster who did many bad things to many people in Iraq. However, he did many things good. 1.He kept sectarian violence under control. (he maintained peace between Shiites, Sunis, and Kurds), 2.He maintained Iraq's resources and infrastructure. (he maintained roads, schools, hospitals/health care, water and sewer, roads/highways, electric, gas, water, food) ,3. He rigidly enforced zero tolerance on drugs and drug dealing. (25,000 drug dealers each year were bound and thrown off 3-story buildings) (too bad we can't do that here!). Hope this helps put you on the right track in your research.

Yes he did accomplish much under some very hard situations. What many of the people do not understand that in the Muslin world there are many different groups and they all hate each other for things that happen thousands of years ago. What Hussein had to do was rule with fear on to others to force them to his rule. Under his control there country did well and grow. As someone noted look in WILKEPEDIA and see what he changed from when he took control up to the point of Kuwait.

As he was one of the biggest dictators of his time but he did have some good points to him...
first he was loyal to his country (as a land lets say not to all ppl) as he did not allow any outside interusion too come in.
He refused any invasion of any kind. As we see his good deeds soo ironically after he left power. The country is in great mess, it is invaded, it is bloody, the two rivers have become rivers of blood where u would expect to see a body lying down ur front yard as u go to work in the morning.
This is the main factor he did for Iraq keeping it independant and interusion free

The only good he did for Iraq was to show them what will happen to anyone who tries to be a dictator again. No he built up everything for himself not for the country, he killed his countrymen why would he build up something for them.
