They can be and they are cheap that is why people don't mind buying them as food for their snakes, and it is really cool to watch.

Mice and rats are adorable. They can make great pets, assuming you're a great caretaker. They can also be extremely affectionate and smart. You do want to be careful what kind of shavings you get for the cage. Certain wood shavings have a natural acid that is actually very bad for small furry creatures.

Finally, a lot of mice and pets sold in pet stores are sold as food for snakes. It's perfectly fine and a bit humanitarian to save these guys from the jaws of a constricter, however they are not bred with care and can often be inbreed. This can result in health issues later in life. I'm not saying be prepared to spend a fortune on curing a rodent, but if they develop cancer or tumors or anything, be prepared to have them euthanized just so they don't have a slow painful death.

Good Luck!

If you like mice, hamsters rabbits and other rodents as pets, yes they could be good pets. But they can escape really easily.Make sure there is no holes in the cage because over time they can keep chewing around the hole so they can escape.if they do chew a hole cover it up with masking tape. They poo and eat alot,so make sure you have lots of mice food for them. You have to clean there cage at least once a week.Make sure they have a wheel. Its not a good idea if you get the type of wheel with the gaps in it because they might get there head stuck and break there neck. They can also break there leg.Get a water bottle instead of a bowl the bowl is going to spill into the shavings or get dirty. You need wood shavings too.Last of all you need a chew stick.

They make excellent pets.
These days you may be lucky to find mice in a pet shop at all, since mice are not as popular as rabbits or guinea pigs. This is a shame, because the beauty of the pet mouse is that it requires very little space, can be kept indoors, and is extremely cheap to feed. Mice will sit on your hand, wash themselves, and generally explore.
Female mice make the best pets, because their urine does not smell like that of the male. You should keep your pet mice in a wooden box or cage, but ensure that there is adequate ventilation to prevent condensation.

Rats actually are one of the best pocket pets. They don't bite (unless they have a reason to). They are very laid back and are just wonderful. Mice are a little more high strung and definitely have more tendencies to bite when handled.

depends upon the owner.
if one can manage with tethered/torn clothes & important papers, then ofcourse they make good pets. half the time wil be spent chasing the mice, the other half stitching torn clothes & getting copy of the documents lost.
happy mice-petting

I prefer rats over mice. I just think mice are to small. And I know rats have personalities and can easily get attached and form bonds with their owners.
