When your son is good at gumming foods (say, small pieces of cheese, or soft pieces of fruit), it's okay to introduce stage 3 foods. Sounds like he's ready.
However, if you look at the labels, there is an awful lot of stuff in a lot of stage 3 foods that is really unnecessary. I haven't used a "stage 3 food" yet, but I have a manual food mill (12 dollars at babies r us) and I just throw whatever we're eating into it (assuming it's not a food she can't have yet), and it mashes it up for her with a few twists of the handle. If you're cooking at home, it's very easy to do this. Plus, it gets the baby used to eating what your family eats, as far as tastes and whatnot. You might be surprised at what your baby will eat. A lot of babies prefer "real" food to the mushed up, corn starch loaded baby foods. I admit I do buy some baby food every once in a while for convenience's sake, though I try to get it without all the fillers, but, then, yeah, it gets expensive.

If I have been you, i does no longer waste my money on point 3 meals. My daughter is nineteen months and he or she has the dinners each and every so often while i don't experience like cooking, yet i do no longer use them on a nicely-known foundation. in case you think of he's waiting for great nutrition, provide him some variety of mashed up mac-n-cheese, or some mashed potatoes, and so on. yet at his age, sure you may provide him point 3 meals. be certain you initiate out with little bites so he can experience that there are chunks in there. good success in this. Chewing grew to become into the toughest element to instruct my daughter and we had a many choking fits.

I think it is ok to do that now then. It usually depends on there age. I started mine at 7 months on the 3 foods( some of them ) and went to all real food around 11 months.

Depends on how well he chews. Does he often gag? If it's a matter of stage 3 pureed foor- you are probably ready, it's just more portions and different flavors. If you are looking at like the gerber graduates type thing I would be worried about the choking factor.

A good guide to go by is when he starts to walk. By then they are usually ready to eat stage 3 foods.
But all babies are different... my son is 7months old and eats Stage 2.

I would suggest just giving him table foods if he can handle them instead of wasting money on expensive baby foods.
