A third world country would be ruled by a leader that did not win the popular vote.

It would make registration difficult for those likely to vote against the leadership and strike millions of people of the voting rolls in important areas through bogus laws.

It would pass laws that restrict freedom and movement and hand massive powers to the Executive.

It would build prisoner of war camps outside it's borders as to avoid legal recourse when it tortured suspects and held them for years in orange boiler suits without trial.

It would retain the death sentence and allow it's citizens to carry guns and shoot each other.

A third world country would be over-run with immigrants.

It would have a massive trade deficit and it's economy would be weak and in debt and it's currency would be devalued.

It would hand tax breaks to the President's friends and leave the poor to get poorer.

Most third world countries spend more on their military than they do on education and leave the poorest to die in the streets through lack of affordable health care.

What on earth makes you think the USA is a Third World country ?

Presumably you're being ironic when you ask if America is a third world country. Parts of it are, I'm sure like any country on earth, the USA has chronic poverty.

It depends which part of America you are talking about.
A third world country is one that is developing. i.e. an LEDC - less economically developed country. (basically a poorer country like Kenya, Bangladesh)
A first world country is one that is developed. i.e. a MEDC - more economically developed country. (basically a rich country like England, France)
The U.S.A would be counted as a first world country where as the countries in south America would be seen as more third world countries.
I hope this answers your question.

If illegal immigration is not stopped, we soon will be. And while I'm on the subject, immigration now needs a long, hard look as well. The legal immigrants may offer their thanks to the illegals for my thoughts on this. Because of the billions of dollars in tax refunds, medical costs, "free" schooling (well, SOMEONE is paying), this country is on the bleeding edge of out of business. And before we start blaming the current administration, this little badge of idiocy goes to every single President, Senate and Congress from today, back to 1950. This nice cuddly, warm feeling we get from taking care of everyone's outcasts is nice. But it don't feed the monkey folks.

The government of Mexico is now handing out hand held GPS equipment to it's citizens that wish to break our laws and invade us. Cool deal huh? They are urging their citizens to cross the border illegally. And we are rewarding them for breaking those laws by offering free schooling, health care and as well as that, SSI benefits in 18 months. And that was done with the knowledge that the SS number they provide is stolen. To qualify, we in America have to work 10 years, they only have to work 18 months. Talk about rewarding bad behavior. Nice deal...

Are we a 3rd world nation? Well, we aren't far from it. I suggest we get prepared for what is to come.

No, America is the world's only remaining superpower. Do you know the meaning of the term, Third-World Country? I think not.

If the status of 3rd world country means that a nation cuts down its trees to sell abroad - then the US is in the same league as any other jungle country. Cutting down trees to sell abroad as timber. We do not sell our timber here in UK.
