It scares the heck out of me when I'm driving. It only happens when it rains and the roads are wet and I have been in many different cars where this has never happen. I just bought a whole new set of tires 3 months ago. It even vibrates when I'm waiting at a stoplight and when I try to pull off it really vibrates hard and I really have to hold the steering wheel hard to keep control.

Whats is wrong with my car? Thanks in advance.

You have a misfire. Get the car checked out. You might need plugs and wires. Depending on the car this might be an easy job or somewhat hard. I had an 88 coupe deville that was a #$%#%#%^#^$&&$#@!!@@#$ job to change the back bank of plugs.
Don't Bother with wire dry either. Just get some WD-40 and spray it on the wires.

My best guess is a problem with your ignition system. The moisture from the road creates a spray in the engine compartment. This moisture then causes a short. Since the car continues to run I would start with sparkplug wires.

Check all your sparkplug wires where they run along or over other engine parts, specifically metal parts. (with car turned off) Look for rub marks or black burn marks.
You could wait until it does it again. Then with some rubber gloves being to slowly lift and wiggle each plug wire until the problem goes away. You have now found the problem.

Good luck

Some part of the ignition system is getting wet. To determine which, when it is dry, get a cup and pour water on various components of the system, distributor, wires, plugs, etc. while the engine is running. Then you can narrow down to what needs to be done. My experience has been that the pickup coil in the distributor is weak and in wet weather the engine runs poorly.

Sounds like your (distributer) is getting wet.Or something (electrical) wet?The (coil pack) wet?Maybe you shoud check the (engine) to see if its wet?Check for (loose wires)One of these could be the prblem if they get wet!Check for A leak on the hood,or the underside of your engine compartment might be missing A splash guard for the engine. If any of these things get wet your engine could missfire, making your engine shake bad!(while wet)! It could be runnig on(less cylinders) than it has? A(missfire)could happen only while wet!And when it drys it changes again.Your spark plug wires could be cut or(knicked) and get wet making the engine missfire.

go to the autoparts store and get a can of wire dry.it's just a silicone spray.take the car home and wait for the engine to cool.spray the spark plug wires and everything else it connects too.spray all the wires you can.let it dry for at least 15 minutes.hopefully that should solve your problem.

Check your tire inflation amount--or you might want to check your power-steering fluid. Otherwise it sounds like an idoling (engine) problem. Good Luck and Be Safe
