Maintain direct eye contact and look from one to the other. You should notice they are doing the same. The eyes tell everything so be ready to have someone know what you really are thinking.

I've always had trouble with this. I look at the spot right between their eyes. It keeps your own gaze from looking shifty yet does provides the connection of eye contact.

~GREAT question!! This ALWAYS drives me crazy when I'M doing it! ~ I've always wondered why I always look into someones Left Eye only and I personally feel uncomfortable looking anywhere else on their face!
~The worst for me though is I have quite a few friends etc. that have a "lazy" left eye and there I am....staring at it,thinking,"I hope they don't think I'm looking at the "lazy" eye because it's "lazy!" Weird, I know : )
**Just a note ---I also know a few people that can't look me in the eye and they end up staring at my Left breast...I thought they were perverted, but they do it with everybody....
I'm looking forward to reading all the answers to this question! Thanks : )

I have strangely wondered the same thing. I feel stupid switching. As long as your point gets across, just look at the face in general i guess

Both their eyes. Or if making eye contat makes you nervous, look at their eyebrows so it still looks like you are looking at them.

If you think too much about how you walk, you will fall over.
In point of fact, when you look into someone's eyes, although you think you are looking at both of them, if you are close to them you will actually be scanning from one eye to the other.
But don't worry about it. :)

You look at both, the whole face, the person.
It's not like an eye chart where you focus on one thing.
