Probably because it's a Miata. lol The gas cap maybe loose. I would check that now but if it has been on for some time then it set a hard code and the codes will have to be cleared for it to go off. Some cars will reset the hard codes after a series of starts say like 8 to 11 starts it may reset itself.

If it stays on it's usualy something you should'nt ignore, if it just flashes once in a while don't worry about it. You can have it analyzed for free at most repair shops but go to at least two and dont tell the second one you had it checked already. you should also wait a couple days after the first check because they will clear the error codes when they're done and it may take some time for your car to repeat whatevers causing the problem (drive it 75 miles or so) If you get the same info from both repair shops then at least you know you're not getting ripped off.

It's possible that you need to reset your computer, after the oil change, as it may have a timed program to advise for the oil change. You can find the procedure in the car's manual.
If it doesn't fix, it's possible that your car need a sensor replace, like the oxygen sensor which is installed at the exhaust line. This sensor stop working very often in some car brands when you use cheap gasoline or some additives.

Have the code scanned for free at Autozone. Check to see if they unplagged the electrical connection on the air filter housing.

you cant possibly know that the gas cap is bad just by looking. anyway get an OBD-II code reader or take it to AutoZone to have them hook one up to it and it will give you a code so that you know which system is malfunctioning
