I went to call out at work, and they would not let me. they want me to serve guests food like this!!! I want to refuse, but I need my job. Is it illegal for them to make me work like this and threaten me with my job. I am a good employee, and when I am sick they treat me like this? its not like I call out very often. So, if this is illegal can ayone provide me with proof? and no, I cannot go to the doctors, I have no insurance. I am poor :P

There is no happy solution here. If you have to drag yourself there, then go. Maybe once they see you, they will send you home. I had a job like that--and believe me, I went to work extremely sick more than once. We do what we have to do. I would suggest looking for another job when you start feeling better. Something with a more compassionate atmosphere and something with health insurance. I hope you're feeling better soon.

If it's a job without health insurance, then begin looking for a job that's worth your frustration (one with health insurance). In the mean time, there are so many employees who "cry wolf", the corporation never knowing when/ if the sickness is "for real". The gentleman who suggested that you go into work, and when they "see you", well, he's probably got the best suggestion (unfortunately). You might be paying the price for the "one bad apple" in the office. There's always at least one, and I'm assuming you're not the one. Good luck, and I hope you feel better.

consider what millions have endured in so many wars and plagues. consider the survivors of 911 and the people in the sudan etc. you are not much of an example for courage and discipline kid. you are a malingerer and should be whipped at mast with a cat-of-nine-tails. get down there and do twice the work you ordinarily do, which must not be much. you are why work is being outsourced to mexico, india and elsewhere. you are why america will become a third-world country. the good new is that you can still change and set a good example. get with the program son! hoooyah!

You're not poor, you still can afford a computer and ask questions online. Why cant just go to the doctor and get a medical certificate?

or Go to work place, let your manager see how sick you are.
