It can be an expression of love...it can be an expression of someone feeling obligated...it can be an expression of someone wanting something from you...it can be an expression of someone paying off an emotional debt...it can be an expression of someone wanting to keep another indebted to them...or it can be an expression of generosity. The bible says to be ware of the gift givers....some gifts come with strings. But there are those that are given freely....so just be wise.

A gift to a loved one should be something that has equal emotional value to both, regardless of it's fiscal value. Whilst apart, it should bring the two together.
