Hi there!!

I'm 37 weeks pregnant too! Congrats!! You're probably just having Braxton Hicks contractions. I think I'e been having them too, and they don't hurt. I'm about 1 cm dialated too, but I haven't noticed losing my plug.

I'm having my little boy by C-Section on January 19th.

Good Luck with your little one!!

I can't believe how many women freak out and say "CALL YOUR OBGYN RIGHT NOW" Makes me glad i'm not the obgyn answering their calls all the time? Anyways- your Dr should have went over all this with you???? they are just Braxton Hicks contractions.. and your Dr should have told you when they want you to call them (ie when they get 10 minutes apart) otherwise don't worry about it. It's not real labor if they go away when you 'change positions'.... real contractions WONT GET BETTER and they will get harder and more intense. If you can make a phone call during your 'contractions' chances are you aren't in labor-- however if you can't make a phone call or think or talk to anyone while having one of these contractions- then usually they are real labor contractions (ie you will notice they are def a LOT STRONGER!) You can have braxton hicks for WEEKS and have your mucus plug lost for weeks. With my first I lost my plug at 36 weeks and I was induced when i got to 42 weeks. This pregnancy I am 35 weeks- i've lost my plug and for the past 2 weeks i've been having braxton hicks.. but mentally im prepared to wait another 5 or 6 weeks- even though i know that it could possibly happen at any time. Unless you are actually in active labor- there is no way to determine how far off it is...

You are not in it now. It will come when it wants to, I have heard of some coming like days after and some coming at there due date or after. I will tell you that YOU WILL know when it comes. I had the same problem ( I went to hospital like 10 times ...not kidding) but I did deliver early ( 35 weeks) and started dilating at 29 weeks ( I was a 4 before I ever went into labor) When they hurt VERY bad when you are laying down and you have to get in a ball or hold some thing or wiggle around you know it is REAL labor. I was a 6 when I went in and they got bad real fast!!

I lost my plug adn went into labor a week later

Yes, it sounds like you are in labour, but if this is your first child it could take a good while for labour to kick in properly, but if you have lost your plug they are very unlikely to be braxton hicks (fake contractions) just relax, put your feet up and try not to do anything too strenuous and soon enough the contractions will become more painful and closer together and baby will begin to put in an appearence

Usually contractions start a few days before real labor actually begins. Sounds like your having irregular contractions, which aren't a huge reason to go running to the hospital, they'll only send you back home. Keep an eye on them and wright them down every time you have one. Once they are constant like every 10 min apart and continue to get closer then you should head on the the hospital. If your water breaks then of course go ahead and go until then i would wait it out at home.

Here's the thing - I was 2 cm dilated for the last 3 weeks of my second pregnancy, and I had minor contractions as well. Here's the thing though, every pregnancy is different. I would check back with your physician. You should be to the point where you are seeing him/her once/week now. Good luck!

I would say that your probably in the very very early stages of labor. When I was pregnant I went through the same thing and I didn't give birth until 40 wks and it took 15 hrs. I know thats probably something you didn't want to hear but you should check with your doc if you think something is up and see what is going on. Good Luck!

If your dialating then yes you are in labour! a slow one though but time you contractions, when they get close go to the hospital, most hospitals will send you home if your 1-3 cm. Let me know what it feels like, im 29 weeks and am crapping myself! this is my first.

Ones you loose your plug you can go into labor anywhere between 2 days and 2 weeks after. For me it was about a week.

What youd escribe sounds like Braxton Hix, however call the doc to be safe they might want you to come in to check the contractions.

I had both my boys at 37 weeks, so the possibility is there. However, Have your waters broken? I think that your contractions would be a little more intense than what you are experiencing. Do phone your midwife and check. They wont mind you asking rather than saying nothing at all.
All the best :o)
