It's a ritual performed by the Sufi branch of Islam. It
said in Bringers of the Dawn, that we could do more to help the Earth, by just spinning around clockwise 33
times. It draws Heaven down to Earth!
You can do it by placing your finger in front of you and keeping your eyes on it so you don't get dizzy. Do you think it really helps? I never take anything at face value.
It could be a deception. But I would think doing it clockwise
is beneficial. It's the 33 times that I wonder about?

I can only guess on the 33 turns---hope someone has the answer on here, so I can see it, too.

There are 99 names of G-d in Islam. There are 33 beads on worry beads-to depict these 99 names. Could the 33 turns stand for the same thing?

Did you know there are also 33 beads on a Rosary?

In the Sufi dancing, one hand is held up to G-d, and the other is down to the floor-palm down. This is to bring the love of G-d down to the people.

Not to be corny, but the last time I tried that, the only thing I brought down to earth was my lunch. Couldn't handle it. Takes a LOT of practice. YBIC

The whirling in an experience of Love. On the twistings I do not know the reference to number... I do not believe that there is a recommended number for any of it... it is about being 'love drunk'.
