My friend's girlfriend, from ITALY, came into Canada. From Canada, she cam accross the border into Buffalo, NY without any kind of visa's or documents to get in. Is that the same across the board for all countries? Specifically, is that OK for people from the Philippines. From my understanding, they don't need any kind of documents as they have a passport. I mean, when I go abroad, I am just asked at the airport for my U.S. Passport and that's about it. Any answer, or where to find the correct answer would be greatly appreciated. Especially for those who have had family/friends from the Philippines visit them here in the United States.

Americans can travel freely to most countries, unfortunately that is no the case for Filipinos. My husband is from the Philippines and in order for him to come here so that we could get married (he was my fiance then) he had to obtain a fiance visa. The person you are writing about will have to have some sort of visa to enter the US. If you met her over the Internet and have a relationship with her, it would be better for you to go over and see her (which is also a requirement for a fiance visa) then apply for the fiance visa which usually take a person 10 months to get here from the day the first papers are submitted, until they arrive. If you are not serious about this girl, but would just like her to visit you like as a friend, it is better for you to go visit her anyway because it is very, very difficult to obtain a tourist visa from the Philippines.
In order to obtain a tourist visa one must have a reason to returm such as a job, a family, money in the bank. Single people usually don't get approved, especially females, because the governement think they are more likely to overstay. Good luck

Your friends girlfriend must have had a passport from Italy or Canada. Western countries, and Japan don't need a visa to visit the U.S. but countries like the Philippines would need a tourist visa to visit. So if she just has a Philippine passport then she would need a visa. Which you say she doesn't have, so she is in the country illegally. Which also means that Homeland Security dropped the ball by letting her in. No surprise there.

You need a credit card or two with a large balance. Next you need an itinerary of where you want to visit.... then you develop a plan to get there with transportation and idea about where you will be staying. That's a good start so begin your research.

one needs to secure a tourist visa first before going to the US. particularly with filipinos, it's a bit hard lately for anyone from here to have a visa approved by the US embassy.

You'll be needing a US visa. And it's really hard to apply for one if you're a filipino and you're here.. there are so many requirements.
