My child is thirteen and no longer wishes to see her father, who I divorced when she was four. We live in South Jersey. I have heard 14 and I have heard 16, along with loads of other ages. Does anyone know the legal answer to this?

It depends on the family court referee. If it has not gone to that point, you cannot force any child over the age of 12 (or 13 yrs).

If her visits with dad are court ordered, you need to get back to court and have HER present her case to a judge. If not court ordered, just don't be there when he comes by!! BUT, be sure your child is mature enough to understand the concequences of her actions. Ten yrs. from now she may feel totally differant. Be sure to cover all bases with her!! Good Luck!!

go ask a divorce attorney,, most states vary and of course it is always up to the judge,, you can get a free hour or half hour, best to do this local,

why does she not want to see her dad, that is sad as a father I loved my 4 daughters and I was divorced from their mother,

I think that if they have the ability to voice their opinions, then those opinions should be considered.
