why aren't we accepting Iraqi refugees?

Look at the Holocaust...if you do some research, you'll find that thousands of Jewish citizens applied for citizenship when the ghettos were being established in Europe...but they were all (yes, ALL) denied. Many lives could have been saved if they would have just been granted access to entering America legally.

I just don't think I understand why our leaders would stand in their places and not really help refugees out beyond a tent city and poor medical care. Our government cant even provide decent medical care fot it's own citizens either, maybe they're aware that they can't do anything for a bunch of refugees.

And to think the foundation of this country was built on taking in the poor, tired and hungry from all four corners of the world.

Although I don't believe the United States exclusively contributed in the destruction of Iraq...France and ESPECIALLY Britain played a massive role in it too.

I'm sure that a lot of Iraqi citizens would rather go to friendlier countries where there's a like-minded culture anyway. Why would they want to come to the home land of the government that destroyed most of their lives?

From the number of uninformed responses on YA, it is apparent the average American does not realize the enormity of destruction their country has wreaked upon Iraq. It has been levelled. Their infrastructure is gone. Thousands of families have been wrecked.

How can so many actually believe they are now better off?

They'd best be praying to God for forgiveness for their part in encouraging their leader to do this. Don't tell me about how awful Saddam was, either, and tell me how safe we all are now that he is gone. He was never a threat to those in America. Get real.

(Sorry for not actually answering your question)

they are talking about it. I lived through the Vietnam Era and watched all those come here. This is a pattern. Not a nice one either. Can you imagine us having to go live in China because they blew this country up. Yeah, We would all look forward to that......not

"Now that the U.S. has destroyed Iraq" is a false premise to ask a question about. The U.S. is spending billions of dollars to rebuild Iraq after decades of neglect under Saddam and the pathetically weak over site of the U.N.It is the "religious" terrorist insurgents causing all of the death and destruction in Iraq, not the U.S.

There are thousands of Iraqi refugees in the U.S. by the way. Most of whom fled Saddams regime.

why dont you go downtown Dearborn Michigan and ask that question. And do not forget, when you get there ask them how they feel about Saddam and the United States.

We have been since Saddam was in power. They came here to escape him. They still come here now because there is so much fear in their country right now caused from the terrorist and not the Americans. Last time I checked it was terrorist blowing up Iraq and not us. In fact we have been hampered from our rebuilding because of the terror that is present in that country. try to focus away from Baghdad and you will see that Iraq is pretty peaceful since we throughout the Butcher of Baghdad.

Iraq has destroyed itself! With hatred and death to its own people. All over a difference of religious beliefs? The US has how many religions in their country and we don't kill over it. God says love one another. Because you will not go to heaven if your full of hate.
