It sounds to me like:

1) A hardware problem:

It could be your motherboard is overheating. Computer often shut down if they get too hot. Maybe your fan isn't working anymore. Open the case and look at it with the power turned on.

Often times, an older system can get cracks in the motherboard just from contracing and expanding for a long time. If so, you either have to get a new motherboard or a new machine.

2) A corruption of the OS: In which case, you may have to reinstall XP. Before you do, try SFC /SCANNOW. This may fix the corrupted file.

Those are the most common things that I can think of.

Well System options not set means the values in the bios are reset or lost, particularly for the system clock... The values r stored in a ram powered by the a single Lithium Ion battery on the motherboard. (it is usually a silver coloured round cell)... As it also says onboard power failure , may be the battery is going bad.. Replace the battery , u can see it easily on the motherboard, and it wont cost much.. Note.. if the problem persists it could also be the battery is getting discharged, due to a short...

If you still have 2 anti-virus programs installed, that may be the problem. They will fight each other. Un-install one of them to see if it solves your problem.
