Hi there. I'm an avid Nicholas Sparks fan and his novels make

North Carolina seem very fascinating. I've never been to US and if

given the chance, NC would be the 1st place I'd visit. Is that

advisable?

Thanks a lot.:-)

North Carolina is a great state, i have both lived there in the past, and visited since, it has the mountains on the west side, and the coast and islands on the east ,,, with alot of interesting things in between

I've been there once, to the John Campbell folk school, in Brasstown, NC.

It certainly seemed, outside of the towns, that the countryside was really lovely- I went in the spring, and the Appalachians were full of beautiful trees, the roads lined with wild flowers, and the mountains crisscrossed with streams. But I guess I was lucky to stay in a particularly nice area with people that respected the environment and maintained old traditions.

On the other hand I've never read anything by Nicholas sparks so i don't know how he describes it!

I would add that I've been to the States a few times, and my personal preferences for a visit are California and New Mexico! But it depends what you are looking for on your trip. Every state in the U.S. is like a different country!

I've lived in North Carolina for over 20 years, after living in the midwest, west and traveling a lot to the east-it's my favorite part of the country, and obviously my favorite state. Nicholas Sparks lives in New Bern, NC in the "coastal" part of the state, which is quite beautiful, with live oaks, spanish moss in the trees, gorgeous coastal plains...I've camped and paddled many of the eastern rivers and the intracoastal waterways...as well as the fantastic barrier islands that have been preserved like Cape Lookout National Seashore and Cape Hattaras National Seashore.

I live in the central area of the state which is called the "piedmont" and is full of rolling hills, hardwoods and pines, and before all the growth, use to be full of tobacco farms..there's plenty of rivers and man-made lakes to paddle in and plenty of trails to hike as well...

The western mountain area of the state are made up of old mountains, set in misty fog, hardwoods, and with beautiful natural rivers and lakes... the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smoky Mountains are there along with many beautiful state parks and riverways.

North Carolina is about 500 miles wide, so it'll take you quite a while to get to the different parts of it-but it's worth it!

Have fun!

North Carolina is an interesting place. The mountains, to the west, are very picturesque...southern hospitality friendly...and the coastal side, the east of the state, is gorgeous...beaches, seaside restaurants...and in between is everything you could want. From small towns to large cities..colleges boasting top-grade educations, metro centers with industry...etc...you name it, North Carolina is like visiting the best of the north and the south in one state.

i admire North Carolina yet i do no longer think of it is the main suited stat because of the fact there is extra useful like California, Georgia, and Florida, I surely have been in each and every of the stats I went to North Carolina over 20 circumstances, human beings are very high quality and that i like the climate. yet i think of California extra useful, too many places to bypass to, climate, mixed place is the superb place to stay.

You should go to Asheville, North Carolina and see Biltmore. It's beyond beautiful. It's this huge house that was built hundreds of years ago. That should be the first place you go.

I haven't seen much of N Carolina to be able to answer that. Only drove through it once and didn't look very interesting. Maryland, however, is BEAUTIFUL!!! and so is Virginia!
