I had a RAM of 256MB in my PC , and i added another RAM of 256MB , but when i restarted the PC , and went to computer properties it didn't upgrade the RAM , just the same i had before (256MB) , anyone can help me bout this ...??

Did you match the RAM that was originally in your machine? It could be PC100 SDRAM, or DDRAM or several other things. It has to match. And did you put it in the empty slot and make sure it was locked in place? For various reasons, your computer has not recognized this memory stick, so start with your computer specs. What kind of RAM do you have? then go from there.

make sure you properly attached your ram..
try swapping the ram's position..

or maybe your Ram sticks have different frequencies.. ex 256mb ddr 333mhz both of them must be the same.

Ram may not match.
Ram may not be plugged in correct.
Try to swap the places they are in.
try with the new ram only.
