War is about power. Oil like money is of course a tool to get and keep power. Religion is another tool which can be used to obtain and keep power. I don't think it is being used any more now than it has been sometimes is the past. It all depends on what is convenient or available to be used at the time. There has always been a war somewhere in the world at any time in history and I can see not reason why this should change in the near future

The reason for the latest war is of course one people don't like to bring up anymore. Remember those planes that flew into the towers? Remember the Tube bombs?
That's behind the reason we went to war against Afghanistan and Iraq - supposedly because they were shielding terrorists.
It's much more trendy to say "It's all America's fault"!
If you read some of the history, too, it became a thought that if Muslims returned to their original teachings - back to basics - Allah would return to them and bless them. This has led to a rise in extremism. And of course, Muslims support other Muslims against non-believers - doesn't matter if they're right or wrong. And behind all this you have Palestine and Israel, with Muslims condeming the West for supporting Israel in their conflicts.
All in all, it's a holy mess.
It is my opinion that it can never be sorted out.

The people who decided to drive a plane into the twin towers were part of a group of extremist muslims. It was the naugties pearl harbour for christian americans, but a threat to the american dream there way of life, a massive deaths and a shock. Osama Bin Laden was the guy who started this and he lived in Afganistan and was part of the Taliban government who were also extreme muslims and restricted womens lives by laws. The American EU and British forces went in to Afghanistan to get Osama bin Laden headed by a very gung ho American force. There were then the Abu Grade prison tortures in Iraq. Blair and Bush were convinced that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and therefore overtook the Saddam Hussein goverment. There weren't any of significance. Mr Blair is a catholic Mr Bush is an American far right Christian, Muslims who are peace loving hard working members of the community feel descriminated against by Americans and in Britian they also feel discriminated. This is blown out of proportion by the media who don't help. SO religion is important to man generally as a faith to help us-when we don't understand.

The bible does not condemn war. Gen 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. This can therefore probably be used as retaliation. Wars will always be about religion and inevitably all the religious wars will point to Israel. If someone helps Israel they will be targeted by the muslims, why? because they know that according to the bible Israel is the chosen nation and they are jealous. Once Israel is united as a nation, not one generation will pass before the end of the world. The wars are about religion because of bible prophecy.

I don't think the wars are truly about religion. There is no religion in the world which states that is ok to kill another human being. People use religion as an excuse to carry out unacceptable actions.

It is an excuse used by any country that dislikes some other place. The trouble with religion is that it has the Answers but not the Questions so can be used by any State to force will onto the people.

In my opinion, the war IS about Oil.

Both sides use religion to get people into an "us and them" mentality so that they stand by and let their leaders do horrible things to other people.

That is why during this critical time in the world, you keep hearing so much about abortion and homosexuality and Jesus and how Muslims are supposedly violent...

It really is only about power and money.

Lately??? Where have you been??? You must be very young as wars and crimes against other religions isn't new they have been raging on for centuries and it's usually a disguise for territorial, financial and political gain. Get interested in history and find some stuff out you'll be surprised.

Look back in history. There has been fighting on this planet for thousands of years because of religion. It isn't suddenly playing a big part. It is just you who didn't know about it.

Not all religions became an important issue in the wars lately, one particular religion only, stands as an important issue for its believers.
