What's disturbing is that people think that getting into debt isn't a problem at all.

The main problem with those adverts is that they give people the illusion that they can spend like idiots and everything will be alright 'cos they can get a manageable loan to pay it all off. What people don't understand is that they have to pay back that loan for years on end at an exorbitant interest rate.

Haven't seen that particular advert. But the loans adverts are doing my head in and sofa adverts. Do DFS actually ever sell anything at full price?

Yes,they keep on and on about "consolidating" your debts with one loan making things easier. Absolute rubbish,I have read that some poor people wind up paying back for years and years. The one that really gets up my nose is the one with Carol Vorderman going on about easy payments, nothing is ever said about how she has a monetary interest in this company, mind you, I suppose it means that they are getting the services of a has-been "personality" for nothing. All of these ads should be banned, they are just cons.

yes i know how you feel, and also the debt adverts, "we can help you, pay back you loans and debts,it will only be what you can afford", yeah right but it will only me 50 years to pay it off, and no my credit still wont be ok! lol, and i know what you mean about that dessert island one im sick of seeing it too, are they playing more often because its just after xmas, and why do they everyone watching the bloody telly is in debt anyway??

The ironic thing abouts loans and mortgages when you come to the end of your working life and have paid everything off, they are falling over themselves to 'help' you. When you are young and struggling with finances they make you squirm for every penny they lend you. Joss Acland said in a movie, "Banks lend you umbrellas but when it starts to rain they want them back" - how true is that?.

Yeah, but won't they all be responding to one of the many debt management companies adverts in the near future?

Commercials are geared to make you remember their product, service. If it has done this, it has succeeded, no matter what we think of them. We remember them for whatever reason. There are lots I hate.
ps. Toronto_guy gives everyone the finger and the same nasty answers. Consider the source. Someone WILL report him soon enough.
