Despite his wealth, Bill Gates is still just another human being, with the same wants, needs and desires as the rest of us. It should come as no surprise that he would use his money to purchase the same things, even if they do seem mundane to some.

He is very sensible man. He is spending huge amounts in charity. If you go for lavish living , he will be loosing his concentration on his real mission i.e. charity and Microsoft. Let others should follow his foot steps.

Perhaps to not draw attention. Wealth has risks you know. People sometimes hold them up for ransom or their family members up for ransom.
