Don't worry about Bali bombings and all. I don't think it's gonna strike Bali anytime soon. Security's been good lately.
I don't recommend coming to Bali this month since the weather condition's been hectic. High tides and storms. Might ruin your plan island hopping. Try sometime around summer.

I also recommend Lombok Island. An island east of Bali. Has nice beaches, too, and less tourists. More conservative, clean, and less crowded, less places to go.
Another island hop to the east you'll see Komodo Island, and YES! They have komodo dragons!

That is, if you still want to go to Bali, of course. What most people don't know is that once you get to Bali you should travel to the islands nearby to make the best of it. Anyways, i'm not a travel consultant, you should consult more to the experts :). This is just a friendly advice.

Oh, by the way, Bali is 95% Hindu. The bombers weren't Balinese, as it turned out.

Is Bali in my list of priority.... Hmmm.. If i go just for the beaches (assuming i'm in the states, now), I'd go to Hawaii instead. It's closer :).

Bali is still a best place to visit. You should go there. Probably after March when the weather is good.

As for Manado, Manado has a beautiful coral at Bunaken, I am not aware if there was any bomb there considering how good the people there protect themselves. You may be referring to the missing plane flying from Surabaya to Manado.

Indonesia people and government now are fighting against Terorism. In general people in Indonesia especially Bali are nice people.

Enjoy your holiday in Indonesia!

I have just returned with my family from a trip to Bali over Christmas. I did not fear terrorism during my visit but of course I thought about the past events. I am an expat and I live in Asia..friends at home often ask me if I am worried about terrorism etc and I always answer them with a question - "are you afraid to visit New York City - the site of the largest terrorist attack in history?" Of course most people are not afraid to visit New York, so why would they be afraid to visit Bali ? I will admit that the added security I witnessed in Bali appears to be a bit of a joke. OK, lots of guys in uniforms going through the motions but if someone was planning another event it would not be difficult to carry it out. Will I go back to Bali? Yes I will. Bali is really suffering as a result of the attacks - most of the hotels appear to be running at very low occupancy, shopping areas and restaurants are not busy - the Balinese which depend on the tourist industry are really suffering and that is a shame. Bali is still one of the most beautiful places on the planet - so I won't hesitate to go back again.

Hi,
to answer your question literally, NOW its not a good time. Theres a big wind coming to the east and going to Australia. Weather so bad and dangerous now, but will be better in few days.
But, Bali is OK. Terrorist issue is everywhere, not only in Asia, but every where can now be subject to terrorist attack.
Balinese in gerenal are simple minded, calm and friendly.
Also logically theres no point for them to have chaos. They need tourist to make their living too, so they will be the first in the line to keep the peace there. Its a win-win solition isnt it?

Additional info: they have a new campaign calls" Bali is My Life" >>> very interesting as they welcome every tourist to explore the authentic Bali lifestyle.
Enjoy Bali!

Terrorist as a big issue--is just too much. Just come see it yourself. There's nothing to worry.

But the weather indeed is not quite good for this time of the year (Nov-Jan). Pretty heavy wind and rain for beach area. But if you go inland, to the most beautiful secluded places and facilities in the world, now shouldn't be a problem.

But then again, if you're in Bali--don't forget to explore the underwater world (scuba diving). It is one of the best in the world, and one of the cheapest also.

No way! Bali bombing is one thing. But the way justice is dealt to the guilty party really dents the credibility of the Indon govt. You cannot really tell if they are supporters of the 'dark side'. If you know what i mean.

On a more practical note, they are many other vacation choices within the region. Give me Thailand and Singapore anytime!

based on my experience on living in indonesia now, bali is safer than it used to be. ofcourse nnot as many foreigners as it used to be. so that wll give u more space and less more privacy ofthe beaches. the probem now is not human made, but it's by the nature. tides are high now, but if u r there for surfing than its good for u. u may want to check the weather reports before u decide on going or not.have a safe trip =D

It's unlikely. Once terrorists struck at a place, they intend to strike another place. Even a donkey doesn't step into a same hole. And with past incidents, the securities are alert now. Make up your mind.
