Go to autopatcher.com and download the latest full install and any updates since them (Nov 06 full, Dec 06 update). Assuming the clean install includes SP2, Autopatcher will check which updates since SP2 are installed and which aren't, and let you choose which ones you want to install (by default, all security updates are pre-selected). If the clean install doesn't include SP2, run Windows Update and install updates until you get to SP2 or go to microsoft.com and manually install SP2, then use Autopatcher for the rest. If your sister doesn't have a fast internet connection you can download Autopatcher on another computer and burn the setup program to CD, then install it on your sister's computer. Even though Autopatcher has the updates so you don't have to download them all, installing everything since SP2 will take about an hour.

it's automatic updates, downloading from Windows Update. You can control the settings in control panel, automatic update...set it as you wish. I personally like 'download and notify' rather than download and automatically install' so I can control it

You would have to reinstall them anyway, so just do the install and then go to TOOLS | WINDOWS UPDATE and download them again.

It would be even more scary if she does not get the updates. So explain to her what it is and that it is necessary.

You can put a shortcut to it on your start menu if there isn't one there already.
