they are the same brands that once ibm made
about 5 years ago, ibm decided to stop make pc's (personal computers) & this business segment they sold to lenovo
so, there's still lots of ibm legacy in the lenovo's of today !
& yes, the lenovo is a good buy
yes, i've closely operated thinkpads & they're good ... pretty much like the ibm's ... rugged & weigh that bit extra

Lenovo is an innovative, international technology company formed as a result of the acquisition by the Lenovo Group of the IBM Personal Computing Division.
They are the largest personal computer manufacturer in the People's Republic of China, the largest in Asia-Pacific as of 2006, and as of 2005 was the third largest in the world (ninth before purchase of IBM's PC Division). The original company was founded in 1984 by a group of eleven engineers headed by Liu Chuanzhi in Beijing, but the listed holding company was incorporated in 1988 in Hong Kong, now a Special Administrative Region of China. After temporarily moving to Purchase, New York, USA, its headquarters are in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, the home of IBM's former ThinkPad group.
IBM Thinkpads or even the desktops have been into the reviews of many well knows sites and people. Consider them seriously into business !

I have a lenovo laptop, its a god buy. better then an apple I would say. there very reliable, affordable, custimisable, and durable. Lenovo has been making the IBM laptops but used there name to keep people buying them for better sales, but when there contract with ibm expired and ibm didnt want to keep making laptops. lenovo decided to start making the same quality and performance for cheaper price and with out the big ibm logo. If you go to there site, (lenovo.com) you can see thee list of products. Lenovo has been working with ibm for some time now. there software and computer programing is highend. sooo if i where to recomend a seriuos non flashy but excelent speed laptop or desktop, lenovo would take the cake. hope i helped, and good luck with the search.......

As a certified IBM/Lenovo tech, I strongly recommend that you steer away from their products.
IBM/Lenovo's latest line of laptops and pc's are more trouble than they are worth. I am continuously looking for patches and bios updates to accomodate their laptops and desktops. A lot of the desktops and laptops, for no good reason, lose their bios settings. From what I have seen they have a high rate of system board failures.
Also, the customer service and technical service is the absolute worst.
I strongly recommend DELL.

Lenovo is a Chinese company that purchased IBM's personal computer line. Their machines still reflect IBM's superior design. For my money, they are the best PC's.
Even with the change in management, they offer service and support that are second to none. And for laptops, parts availability is the best.
