Suppose somebody wanted to make a plumb bob and was looking for a heavy material and they found lead suitable and made a big plumb bob and dropped it on your head from a distance of 17 stories. Now what sound will it make? plumbum! Thats why

Yes its is true plumbum is Latin for lead.
It is also the reason plumbers are called plumbers because they used to use a lot of plumbum

It's true and "plumbum" is the Latin word for lead.
Most metals that were already known in Roman times still have Latin names or the Latin names are reflected in their chemical abbreviations.
Copper - Cu (from cuprum)
Iron - Fe (from ferrum)
Calcium - Ca (= calcium)
Silver - Ag (from argentum)
Gold - Au (from aurum)
etc.
