I am on a Toshiba Laptop and nothing is plugged in the back. Just a plug on the right side and a pink and green mic on the right front. I did have a web cam plugged in back, but took it out when problem started.

The USB port is what you would plug your earphones or camera into to talk on skype or upload digital images from your camera.
Some USB ports are located at the back of the CPU (that box that you press the button on to start the computer) and some USB ports are located on the front of the CPU.
The USB port takes flatish plug and it should be marked if you look closely.
If you can't understand any of what I have said, guess you will just have to read the instructions again.
Not sure why your computer is not working at all unless you have not plugged in your keyboard properly.
Suggest switch off, unplug from mains wait 2 mins, check all connections again, front and back, plug back in switch back on and see if it will work again.
Good Luck

USB = Universal Serial Bus... it is the type of connector that most modern computer devices use, such as a mouse, web camera, miniature thumb drives, printers, etc.. the warning itself is not cause for alarm. I would close the warning box and continue with your business as usual. Most likely your daughter had an auxiliary device attached to the computer that was removed prior to your using it and that warning is simply alerting you to the fact something is disconnected, such as a printer, camera, mouse, etc... it is nothing at all to be alarmed about.

Confused here! Are you saying that your machine does work, but you just can't get onto the Internet?
Is the one and only cable connected to the machine the one from the power supply?
How did you used to connect? Wireless or via a modem?
If a modem, that would be why. It does need to be connected to the machine!

USB stands for customary Serial Bus, the port universal at present to connect peripheral contraptions. What would not paintings on your laptop? If it would not respond to the keyboard, examine that the keyboard cable is firmly related.

Try plugging everything out, restarting the computer, then plugging back in any USB devices that need to be plugged in.

Check the connection from the modem to the computer first.
Then re-start your computer and it should work..
