Depending on your budget the wii is priced at 249 and has more games geared toward that age group. Hand held games like the game boy advanced can be found cheaper then the ds. Games for the hand held game boy advanced can be found used for as low as $9 at game stop and other stores. On concole games keep in mind the graphics and refresh rates on all current game systems are more intense then when we were young. Hook what ever system you buy for your younger children to the smallest tv in the house and make them sit back from screen in a well lighted room.
P.S. The Wii is a riot for young and old.

I would buy a nintendo console the wii or the gamecube. These give more cartoony style games which younger children enjoy more but as they get older the gamecube has a fair few shoot em ups.

I think you should buy a Nintendo Wii. It's more fun for younger children and has more Family Games (also cald ''Kiddy Games"), and they can be easily bought in almost every gamestore.
The Nintendo Wii costs about 250 euros/$549.95 - $719.95.
Games cost about 60 euros/45 dollars.

I would either get them a Gameboy Advance (DS is better for older kids) or a GameCube. When we were choosing which system to buy for our kids, we looked at the games and out of the 2 bigger ones (GameCube, XBox, PlayStation), GameCube had more family friendly games.

It is important to read every user manual for anything that will come in contact with your child. The reason for this, is because the user manuals not only tell the parents how the game should be properly used, but instructs on the nature of the game (the actual content of the game) as well as any "hidden dangers" (such as small parts, or breakable pieces). Parents should always, ALWAYS read owner manuals for every item that comes into contact with the child, no matter how simple it may seem, or how small of an item it is.

I would say definitely the Nintendo Wii. IT comes with a free Wii sports game and your kids will get exercise too. You can play as well!

How about going to the park instead? 6 and 4 year olds have too much energy to be stuck indoors playing on game consoles. They need to be running around with fresh air in their lungs.
