We went to the hospital yesterday and as we were walking in, I noticed there were two fire extinguisher, 1 was the regular red one, and the other was chrome an said "Cars Only". Is there a specific reason they needed one for just cars?

The silver one is a power type extinguishing agent. The red one is most likely a water or other fluid type.

Cars have fluids that burn, ie gas, diesel and oils. If you try to use a fluid type extinguisher you would just spread the fire by spreading out the fluid.
The power types are more exspensive and usually caustic and poisonous. You could use that to extinguish most types of fires, but the building manage prefers it for automotive fires and labeled it Cars Only.

Gasoline will float on top of water so an extinguisher that uses water can spread the fire. A dry powder type fire extinguisher is the correct choice to use for gasoline fires.

Fire extinguishers are rated for different combustibles.
Type "A" is for wood, paper, rags, etc.
Type "B" is for oil, fuel, flammable liquids.
Type "C" is for electrical fires.
Some are multirated, i.e. "TYPES B&C".
