Hi, I am going to provide a link to a chart I created. The chart is only one of many toward a 'visual Theory to everything' but it does actually show you the 42 which is supposed to be the meaning of life.
To discover the meaning of life one must 'grow' and the month of May is also 'growth'. This chart holds the 42 within the 'created' star IN MAY, which was created from dreams. The calendar of 7 columns and 6 rows creates a calendar of 4 weeks. 6x7=42 (only a few have 7 columns and 7 rows)
If you were to count all the digits that is NOT within the points of star, and count each digit as singular then you will get 57 if the 19th hour is considered as a 1, but if you count as a ten then you have 67; equivalent to the 6x7=42.
In this chart you will also see how the 42 in reverse makes 24 equivalent to 24 hours to the day.

The chart given is of time, and it shows Christ having perfect relevance to it. The chart shows he was conceived in March-this month holds 12x6 if look in it-take note how the 42 makes a 6

6 means 'prophetic significance, so 12x6 must mean the most prophetic

According to Christians (and me), there are several purposes to life including:
- becoming like God, - bringing people into the kingdom of God, and - loving other believers.

If you want to find out more, read the '40 Days of Purpose' material.

If there was no God, life would be meaningless, and if life is meaningless there is no point at all in a) being nice to anyone else, b) staying alive and c) reproducing. So, there must be a God, and we must have a purpose.

About the meaning of 42, according to something a lot of things in the universe are based on the number '42', but I personally think it is a random number that Douglas Adams came up with. Random numbers can be very infuential...

The meaning of life is to be born, sustain yourself untill you can reproduce, reproduce, sustain yourself and your offspring to maturity, die.

42 is a little more complicated: In the book the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams, the question "What is the answer to life, the universe and everything?" was posed to the most powerful computer ever built. Following millenia the computer finally outputted an answer which was "42".

The people gathered to hear the answer were a little bit dissapointed to say the least. When they asked the computer to explain, it pionted out that they asked for an answer, but the question was still unknown to them. So they asked the computer for the question at which point it set about thinking again...

42 is a number that has many definitions, as in
In the ancient Chinese text the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tsu, chapter 42 is an explanation of the universe.
The number of teeth wolves and dogs (canines) have.
The light leaving a rainbow is spread over a wide angle, with a maximum intensity around 42°
The number of generations in the Gospel of Matthew's version of the Genealogy of Jesus.
The number of months the Beast will hold dominion over the Earth (Revelation 13:5)
The number of lines on each page of the Gutenberg Bible, the oldest surviving book printed with movable type.
It is featured several times in The X-Files. For instance, Mulder's apartment number is 42.
The age at which Elvis Presley died

The answer for the first part of the question- what is life according to me is -

Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.

I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.

You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

Meaning of 42 -
for the above question in Y!A some people answer as 42 which means -

In The Hitch-Hiker's Guide a computer is built to calculate the answer to life, the universe and everything. It eventually comes out with 42.

Of course this makes no sense, so they ask the computer what it's talking about. The computer replies "well, you didn't specify exactly what the QUESTION was, so of course the answer makes no sense!" So it then designs another computer to work out the question...

Douglas Adams, the author, chose 42 because it was a nice, normal-sounding number with nothing special about it at all. So the whole thing's a joke, basically:-)
I am not very sure of this answer for 42-

In 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' they are searching for the Meaning of Life, and the answer they get at the end is 42.

What no one mentions or perhaps realises is that "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy " is in fact a satire on council planning departments in the 1970's in general, and road planning departments in particular, the ruthlessness and deviousness they employed in buying up properties and sneaking the plans through before anyone knew and how people were evicted from their properties using compulsory purchase orders before they were aware that anything was up.
The answer "42" after deliberating for millenia was a comment on select committees who, when quizzed about their answer, reply we only deliberated the answer, not the question. The whole " Hitchhiker " saga was a comment on civil servants in general and the name was taken from a series of books based on cheap student travel in the 1960's and 70's.
