first of all there are no unused parts, and its impossible to develop talents like ESP or sonar. this is too far out.

but hidden talents.. why not ?
you sometimes observe people who can calculate like a computer, or remember whole telephone-books. this is what you can 'develop'

the brain is a structure you can think as to be a 3 dimensional roadmap. if you learn something you can imagine that you have to learn to find a route in this roadmap.
the more you get used to something, the bigger the roads grows, the less you think on something the smaller the road gets. so actually learning to do something is building roads in your brain, consistent with neuronal connections being improved or removed here and then and there.
learning to rememebr a telephone-book for example is like building 'roads' intentionally, if you will so
but be aware not to mess something up while doing so ;)

It is absolutely not true. Every part of our brain is used but at different times and for different reasons. Not all of our brains is dedicated to thought however. Different parts of the brain must tell the heart to pump blood, stomach to digest, liver to filter the blood, kidneys extract water from what we drink, etc. Such a theory purports that certain areas of the brain might only be good for certain things. Yet many parts of the brain have mulitple functions. For example, the amygdala is responsible for memory consolodation and recognizing fear responses in others. So in short the idea that we only use 10% of our brains is false.

You can develop your brain with abilities by learning. However, it is impossible that our brain would develop abilities like the sonar of dophins.

There is no hidden or unused part of your brain - it is a fallacy.

This 10% rubbish simply means you don't use all of it all the time. Of course, some people use none of it most of the time.

Of course they can. They just need the proper tools to help them out like meditating and ridding your brain of dark evil thoughts. It won't happen overnight but it will happen.

No doctor ever told anybody "the bad news is, your friend got 90% of his brain blown away. The good news is, it's the 90% he doesn't use".
