Question the question!
Is he unique? His deductive reasoning, at least, was based on a historical character. Doyle himself said that his inspiration was a former teacher, Dr. Joseph Bell, though that is not to suggest that Dr Bell was an anti-social drug addict.
To prove Holmes as unique is almost impossible for one reference to a similar detective, however obscure, would bring the proposition tumbling down.
He is not alone in being logical, or flawed or eccentric, or having a nemesis or master-criminal opponent...
On the other hand, take as a whole there is a recognisable Sherlock Holmes for whom there is no real substitute.
Who else could have drawn Inspector Gregory's attention to "The curious incident of the dog in the night-time"?

How about "do your own homework"?
Is that a good description? Getting someone else to write it on Yahoo!Answers and the pick the best one you like then copy and paste into your work is called "Plagiarism". And it brings harsh penalty, you know.
And when you hand your homework in and your teacher ask you to explani what you mean by your answer, how would yo do tht when you don't even know what the answer said (as you would have have simply pasted it and not have thought about it)?
