Goldfish get huge.
Get something easy and tough to start out with. Molly, White Clouds, Cory, Congo Tetra, Rosy Barbs, Swordtails, Fancy Guppies. Bettas are tough, pretty fish, but they fight so don't do well in groups. Females are a *little* less colorful and do much better in a community tank. I have a female that is nearly 3 years old who is a bright royal blue.

I have 2 goldfish in a 1 gallon aquarium. I would not do this again. Goldfish are too dirty to be in this kind of tank. I have to completely change the water every month, and thats something you shouldnt do, but I have to. Then my fish seem to get sick after that. But the water gets cloudy and very yucky looking. I think I would go with the little neons next time. Maybe they'd work better. I used to have a 10 gallon aquarium with goldfish and it worked So much better. Those fish lived for 4 years, most of them.

gold fish are from the carp family they are very dirty eat and poop all day so only feed once a day with flake food or buy the weekend feeders for them its not so messy also they like the water fairly cold

- Gold fish get the water sour fast, go with fancy tail guppy's instead, also don't be a tight wad on the filtration system, & light.
