For 5 years now, If I don't constantly have something on my lips, like carmex, chapstick, lipstick etc. My lips will dry and shrivel up in a matter of minutes, and they start to bleed from being cracked.

My husbands lips NEVER EVER get dry, they are always soft and never need anything.. whats the deal?

What can I do to prevent this, im sick of it.. carmex is consuming my life!!!

Ditto to everyone who said Drink More Water!!!!
If I don't have adequate water intake for a couple of days, the very first thing I notice is that my lips start to dry out and crack.
Most people don't drink nearly enough water, and dry lips could be a sign that you're somewhat dehydrated.

I'm not sure how much you can do to prevent this but do see a dermatologist as the others suggested to see if there is any underlying problem.

In the meantime, get a free sample of Cortibalm. I've been using it for a few weeks now and although i do have to continue using it. (if i stop, they start peeling again) it is so different and so much better than Chapstick or Carmex. I couldn't stand the smell and the waxiness i felt when i applied those to my lips, not to mention my lips still peeled even with the Chapstick or Carmex on.

Do a "Cortibalm reviews" on Google to help you decide if to try this. I'm so glad i found it and have ordered a couple off of ebay after using the samples. It's awesome and i'm a customer for life.

th problem is that you're probably using products that are petrolium based (with mineral oil or vaseline)..these products do not penetrate the skins deep layers so they only give you the sensation that your lips are moisturized but then it gets worst.

You need to :
1. Purchase a 100% pure lip balm (cocoa butter, olive oil based)
2. Exfoliate your lips with a gentle exfoliant, then rub your lips with a wet towel to rub off excess dry skin.
3.Immediately apply the balm. I keep 4 lip balms on me at all times (1 in the bathroom, 1 by my desk, 1 in my purse and 1 next to my bed.

You can purchase natural lip blams at any health food store or aromatherapy shops.

You'll notice the difference immediately

You should definetely wear something on your lips throughout the day. Vaseline is an extremely good mosturiser. Put it on at night when you go to bed aswell. However, if your lips are really that bad, you should go to your dematologist or your local GP to get advise on what to buy or he might give you a prescription. Hope It Gets Better!...I have quite dry lips these days because of the cold and it does suck... :)

Use Vasaline at night, and even through the day. Make sure you always have some on your lips. Also try Chapstick Moisture plus.

Try 100% shea butter. You can order it on-line. It's cheaper that way and it costs a fortune in the stores. Anyway, apply this on your lips or anywhere else on your body where you have dryness every night. You will be amazed at the softening results. You can also do this during the day. Best wishes and happy new year!

Use Vaseline Lip Therapy. It looks like lipgloss on the lips but also helps w/ the dryness.

Well, besides definitely getting checked out at a dermatologists office, I can tell you that when I had my wisdom teeth out, the nurse used over the counter bacitracin on my lips to keep them from getting dried out/prevent infection, bleeding, etc. In the worst of the dry winter mos in CA, I still use this and it really helps to keep them moist and COMFORTABLE....I'd still go to the doctor though :)
