I guess it's just practice. I've always been a very fast reader--my favorite book is a shade over 800 pages long, and no matter how much I force myself to slow down, it's never taken me more than three days to get through it--but then I read constantly. I always have. My suggestion would be to try reading very, very different things for a while. I don't mean subject matter, I mean more in how the subject is presented. Read some comic books--it's a totally different reading technique. Read some poetry. Read some plays. It'll improve the flexibility of your mind when reading greatly, and could very well lead to faster reading.

I guess if you dont read very well (i.e. if you skip words when you're reading) you should go to an optometrist and get glasses. If not, just focus on every word until you can read it as fast as lightning... you just have to be determined

Try understanding the gist of the lines, instead of concentrating on meaning of every word. This way you would improve your speed.

Then practice some more.
