(I'm giving additional details. Thanks to the one who gave the suggestion.)

Our country is tropical. It's summer right now. Actually, I am more into suggestions that concern humans simply because it's more practicak. Yet it's alright if it's animal or plant-oriented.

Again, THANKS A LOT.:-)

It would help if you gave us an idea of what kind of stuff is around you. Are you in a really urban area? Suburban? What's the climate there? What wildlife do you have? Because if we give you suggestions that aren't near you it won't be easy for you to collect data for the science fair.

(edit)

Hm... Okay just to give a few ideas. Where I grew up we used to measure the amount of brown on the pine needles on the trees. The more air polution there was, the more of the pine needles were brown at the tips. Maybe there's something similar you can do with the trees in your area. Of course measuring pine needles would be out. :)

Or you could figure out which native plant is most sensitive to changes in air quality. Then you can find data about the number of plants in the area and compare it to local air pollution data.

Most countries publish public health data. You could track the number of people with respiratory problems such as asthma over the years, and correlate it to the amount of air pollution that your area reports having.

If you live near a city you can compare respiratory problems there compared to outside the city. I know by me the people who live closest to the bus depots have a higher incidence of asthma than the rest of the city.

These are just a few ideas to get your mind going. I would also suggest searching for your local wildlife conservation website. You could also call them and visit them to get ideas. They would have a lot of information for you.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Take your audience on a walk down any city street. If they don't "get" the effects of air pollution then, they never will.

Something that we in Canada face a lot of thanks to the Yanks to the south -- Acid Rain. It destroys our freshwater lakes and kills our forests.

Sulphur dioxide emiited from their coal burning plants and factories mix with the water vapour and form sulphuric acid.
