I am usually old school when it comes to skirts (heels only) but I want to wear flats more often. Any hints out there for me for combining flats & skirts? BTW I am quite petite at exactly 5'0.

I'm 5'0" also. I think flats with skirts are fine.
I have flat "pumps" that are great with minis and fitted, dressier skirts, and with the long, flowing, and casual ones, I have some bejeweled pewter-colored thong-type sandals.
And I've even been known to wear my combat boots with long, velvet evening dresses (and torn fishnets and black lipstick... going clubbing, of course).
I just wear what I like... I really don't care if it's in style or not... in fact, I'm sure most of my wardrobe is WAY out of style!

With such a wide variety of styles available these days, you can combine almost anything from your closet and put together a fashionable look. The simple act of changing from heels to flats can create a new look. Casual shoes can tone down a dressy outfit, and dressy shoes can add kick to an otherwise casual day, whether you're wearing heels or flats. Your mirror will tell you when things are 'looking good."

well, i think for your size you could get away with a short skirt and some nice ballet flats. The flats are in right now, and they are also very comfy! Or, if it's nice weather where you are, and your skirt isn't too dressy, you could just wear a nice pair of flip-flops!!

Ooh.
Wear flared miniskirts or scooter skirts with flats.
(think Mischa Barton in her Keds ad, although not as tall as her..it doesn't matter)

Never wear any skirt longer past the knee with flats or you'll look matronly, schoolteacherish or very dowdy.

It's ok to wear flats with a fitted skirt. A flowy skirt that is wider at the bottom adds too much bulk.

If you are going to wear flats with a skirt it has to be a long skirt.otherwise you will not look finished

I am 5'0 too and I am 20 years old. I think that combo would look fine. Do what you want as long as it fits the dress code if you're going to school.

Your skirt should be long, like at least halfway between your knees and ankles. But since you're only 5', I think they'd be cute with a miniskirt too.
